Stylish mountain B&B
Our lodge / bed and breakfast in Golden BC is a stunning mountain home, stylishly renovated with modern yet comfortable flair.
We think it's pretty luxurious as B&B's go, however it's important to us that we provide a down to earth, relaxed feel, where guests really can make themselves at home. We want you to come back after a day of travelling, sight seeing or adventure seeking and be able to put your feet up and wind-down comfortably. All public rooms in the lodge are yours to enjoy and free wifi is available throughout should you really need to do more than relax.
The rooms display various mountain-style art. The colorful oil paintings by Anton Zanesco showcase scenes from the Rockies and the metal animal sculptures by a Vernon artist beautifully represent what we hope you see in the wild.
An exclusive lodge
Guests who choose to stay in a B&B rather than a hotel do so primarily for a more unique, sociable and personal touch. Whilst we can certainly offer you that, there are also enough spaces inside and out for you to escape to should you need some privacy and personal space.
We live on the property but not in the main B&B lodge, so we need never fear intruding in each others' space. All public rooms in the lodge are yours to enjoy exclusively. We are close enough to make your stay a great one - friendly, cozy, welcoming, comfortable and relaxing - all in a modern setting.
Home Lodge is renowned for its great breakfast. We love cooking for our guests. As your parents told you, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If the smell of fresh brewed coffee doesn't get you up then maybe warm bread straight from the oven or morning baked muffins will.
European guests in particular love the fresh artisan bread and Swiss cheeses. Great quality coffee, home made muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt and a hot dish each morning truly make Home Lodge a luxury bed and breakfast.
With advance notice all allergies and food preferences can be easily catered for. Breakfast is available anytime between 7am-9am each morning. As well as great food you can be sure of a great atmosphere around the breakfast table, meeting guests from all over the world. This is just one of the characteristics that makes a B&B different from a hotel stay.
Wonderful En-suite Bedrooms
All 5 beautiful king or twin ensuite bedrooms at Home Lodge feature stylish and modern furnishings. Each room has a slightly different view - mountains or fields, cows or trees, horses or gardens. The beds have 100% cotton white sheets and duvets and each room is decorated with a slightly different color scheme, but all in a modern mountain style. Enjoy plentiful storage, cushions, throws, slippers and thick towelling robes.
Our bedrooms with great views all feature gorgeous en-suite bathrooms with heated floors, deep bath-tubs, showers to blast away the morning cobwebs, hairdryers, thick fluffy towels and full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. 2 rooms have large glass walk-in showers and all have shower over bath.
Each of these 5 private rooms also has an iPhone docking station and alarms available.
One thing you won't find in the bedroom here are TV's - sorry, but that's another difference between us and hotels. We don't expect you to check-in and sit in your bedroom. We guarantee you won't have much time for TV - you'll either be enjoying the surrounding things to do in Golden, the scenery outside at Home Lodge or the company of other guests. If you do need to watch TV there is one in the TV/games room.
Bed & breakfast common areas | spaces for you to enjoy
The lounge has an amazing view of Table Mountain through the floor to ceiling windows. Sit on the large comfortable sofas, put on a CD or plug in your iphone music and enjoy the view. Chat with guests or plan your days with all the maps and guides we have available. Get out the Board Games and enjoy each others company. Put another log on the real fire and cozy up, relax and chat.
The library is a peaceful space in which to indulge in a huge selection of books and magazines: from high literature to low-brow, fiction, non-fiction, sports and travel guides and magazines I'm sure you'll find something to suit the mood. A desk for your laptop overlooks the gardens, cow and horse paddock. Sliding doors lead out to the deck and hot tub.
After a day hiking or skiing you can return to the house, pull off the hiking or ski boots, hang up the wet clothes or throw them in the dryer, store your skis, boards and outdoor equipment. This big functional mud-room means there is no need to keep all this in your bedroom.
Outside there is a gazebo and huge deck with options for sun and shade, eating and drinking, lounging, reading and swinging in the hammock and an 8-person hot-tub. Although we are only a few miles from town, we are remotely enough situated to have almost no light pollution at all. On a clear night guests enjoy nothing more than sitting on the porch or deck under a woolly blanket watching the clear clear skies and sparkling stars.
Food & Access to the Kitchen
You are welcome to bring your own snacks, beer and wine to the Lodge and store it in the fridge in the kitchen. We provide a great breakfast for you each morning, however as a B&B unfortunately our kitchen is not available for guest cooking. You are welcome to buy take-out food from any of the supermarkets or wonderful restaurants and eat it here in the dining room. You are also welcome to make your sandwiches for lunch each day or we can provide a bagged lunch for you - please enquire for details.
